The co-founder and editor of  the peerless The New York Review of Books, Robert Silvers, is profiled in this Guardian story. The NYRB is the one English-language publication that covers the most essential ideas and people at the highest level of thought and writing. It’s irreplaceable and one wonders if there is an editor somewhere who can keep it at the pinnacle it has achieved, once Silvers puts down his pencil.
